Stray Bullets! Again?!

A 17 year old boy was hit by an alleged stray bullet just outside of his residence past 6 p.m. last January 12, Saturday in Purok Ramboo, Babag 2, Lapu-Lapu City.

Evemil Berdin suffered a graze wound at the right portion of his forehead resulting him to be rushed to Mactan Doctors’ Hospital in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

According to the initial investigation conducted by PO3 Lydo Pinos, PO2 Luistio Ernie, PO1 Jade Querubin of the homicide section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, Evemil was lurking outside of his residence when suddenly an alleged stray bullet hit him.

“Padung naman unta mi manihapon atong panahona pero nigawas siya kadiyot kay naa daw siya’y tan awon, nakuratan mi pag-sulod niya ug balik kay nagkadugo naman iyahang nawung  (We were about to have our dinner that time when he went outside to look for something, but we were shocked after he went in because he came back with full of blood in his face),” said Ramil Berdin, the father of Evemil.

The investigators are no longer considering the angle of revenge, for the reason that Evemil does not have a history of having an enemy. This was also supported by the statement of Evemil’s father.
Para nako, saag jud to nga bala kay wala man ko’y nahibaw-ang kontra ang akoang anak (For me, it was a stray bullet. As far as I know, my son has no enemies),” said Ramil.

The investigators are still conducting further investigation to determine the firearm used in the incident. However, the investigators admitted that there are still no slugs of any firearm recovered in the crime scene, which makes their investigation more difficult.

Evemil had his CT scan last Saturday right after he was rushed to the said hospital, and found out that there was a small injury that invovles his skull and brain. “Naay nakit-ang gamay nga injury ang iyang doktor sa iyang ulo pero bisag gamay ra kini obserbaran ra gihapon siya (There was a small injury found after his CT scan, though it was small, he still have to be under observation),” said Ramil.

Evemil is still under observation in the said hospital and subjected for another CT scan as advised by the doctor in-charge.
